spookat in 60 seconds

Spookat is a chat widget for your website. Visitors write in a tiny widget, your team answers in a Slack or Discord thread, or in our inbox and its phone app. That’s the product. Here’s the rest in about a minute.
the widget
- Under 4 kb. The launcher every page loads is 3.4 kb of JavaScript before compression, 1.8 kb over the wire with brotli. We measured the production file on 2026-09-27. The build fails if it ever goes over 4 kb gzipped.
- 0 requests to our API before a click. The launcher draws a button and waits. The chat panel, its styles and the connection to our server load only when someone clicks.
- No cookies. Not before the click, not after. The widget never sets one.
- 8 styles and 17 fonts, from a brutalist block to a Windows 95 window, all self-hosted. Your site’s look, not a bubble from 2014.
- 12 languages. The widget picks the visitor’s language on its own, from Polish to Korean.
the replies
A visitor writes. With Slack or Discord connected, on any paid plan, a thread opens in your channel. You reply in the thread and the answer shows up in the widget, in real time. Nobody on your team learns a new app or keeps another tab open.
There’s also an inbox in the dashboard, with a phone app, for the days you’d rather not open Slack, or for a team on neither. And an API plus an MCP server, so your own AI agent can read chats and help answer them.
If the visitor left before you answered, Spookat can email them your reply (on cool guy and up).
the price
Per site, not per seat. Add your whole team, it costs the same.
| plan | a site, per month | history |
|---|---|---|
| broke af | $4.99 | 30 days |
| cool guy | $14.99 | 90 days |
| vc money | $49.99 | 365 days |
Every extra site you pay for through Spookat is 30% off, once one of your sites pays full price. You start with a 14-day trial, no card. When it ends unpaid, the chat stays on and keeps taking messages, and your team answers them once you pick a plan. There are no per-chat or per-resolution fees.
the receipts
We don’t want you to take any of that on faith.
- The launcher’s size and “nothing before a click” are both one DevTools reload away. Our guide to adding live chat without slowing your site down shows exactly where to look.
- We load-tested the server that answers your visitors: one process on one core took 1000 messages a second.
- We’re measuring Spookat next to six other chat widgets, with the method and every raw run published. Here’s how we test.
who it’s for
People who ship websites and want to talk to the humans visiting them without making the site slower or signing up for another app to babysit. Indie makers, small SaaS teams, shops, agencies running a pile of client sites.
If your support team is fifty people with SLAs and a QA process, there are bigger tools for you. If it’s you and a Slack channel, this is the one.
That was about a minute. Start your 14-day trial, no card.
