questions
How do I add a WhatsApp button to my website without a plugin?
Fill in the form above, copy the code and paste it before </body>, or into your site builder's footer code box. It's one link with its own styles: no plugin, no script, nothing to update.
Is this WhatsApp button free?
Yes. No signup, no limit. The code is yours: it links straight to WhatsApp and never loads anything from us. Under the button sits a small “by spookat.com” link: keep it if the tool helped, or delete that line.
Why does my WhatsApp button open the wrong number?
The link needs the full number with the country code and without the leading 0: +44 7700 900123 becomes 447700900123. The tool strips spaces, + and 00 for you and warns about a leading 0. The number also needs a WhatsApp account, personal or Business.
How do I add a prefilled message to a WhatsApp link?
Type it in the message field. It goes into the link as ?text=…, and the visitor sees it typed in WhatsApp, ready to send or change.
Does a WhatsApp button need a cookie banner?
This one loads nothing until someone clicks it. It's a plain link, so it sets no cookies on your site. After the click, the visitor is in WhatsApp, under WhatsApp's own terms. Widgets that load a vendor's script on every page are a different story.
Does it work on a computer?
Yes. On a phone the link opens the WhatsApp app. On a computer it opens WhatsApp Web or the desktop app, where the visitor has to be logged in.
WhatsApp button or a chat on my website?
A WhatsApp button only works for people who have WhatsApp and are fine giving you their number, and every question lands on one phone. A website chat like Spookat lets anyone type on your site, and your whole team answers. Plenty of sites run both.
